The industrial and road infrastructures of Elgeta and Debagoiene were discussed by the officials during their visit to the Elcoro Decoletaje company. After the working meeting, they visited the facilities and were there, among others, Jabier Larrañaga, the county deputy for Economic Promotion and Strategic Projects and Aintzane Oiarbide, from Road Infrastructure, together with the mayor of Elgeta, Iker Laka.

Larrañaga stated that the Elcoro company is an important model in Gipuzkoa and that is why they visited. “Ours is an industrial area and having a strong economy is very important to maintain well-being in the future. Furthermore, the wealth we have is that we have this industry in the different valleys of Gipuzkoa, that is, it is not gathered in an urban area. Here in Elge we also have 40 companies and about 600 employees and that, without a doubt, is wealth creation.”

Aintzane Oiarbide, on the other hand, seeing the strong industry that Elgeta has, has committed to improving accessibility, as is done throughout the territory. “It has already been tendered and this year they will start the work to widen the road between Kanpanzar and Elgeta. It will be an important step forward for the people of Elgeta, because that part will win in terms of safety.” He also says that it will be an “important step” for the industry. “In fact, many trucks pass through Elgeta, mostly on the road that connects Bergara and Elgeta, but also on the way to Campanzar.”

He also complained that the Elgeta City Council does not have a relationship with the companies of the municipality and the Mayor of Elgeta Iker Laka also agreed with this, considering it essential to reestablish the relationship with the companies. “Elgeta, despite being a small town, has a large economic fabric and we have to take care of it. Ultimately, because this creates the wealth of the town, in order to offer the necessary services and infrastructure to the citizens.”

For this reason, the government has made ten commitments in their program, based on three priorities: people’s well-being, the primary sector and industry.
